My name is Abby and I am currently a Program Supervisor and Intern at Northway Academy.
What led you to choose Sevita for your internship?
I am currently working as an employee at Northway Academy, and want to get a perspective of Northway Academy from a social worker’s perspective.
What are you most proud of from your work here so far?
Creating the relationships with staff and the individuals we work with and seeing how far each individual has come.
What do you look forward to most about coming to work?
Being with the individuals and helping them through their days as each day takes one step forward to success.
Is there an individual who has left a lasting impression?
I believe all the individuals who I have worked with have made an impression on me. But there is one that stands out, and has recently graduated from Northway Academy. He started at Northway without any time at school and having challenging behaviors daily. As we worked with him and taught him skills, he made great progress. Now he attends a full day at school and has graduated from attending Northway since he has learned so many skills to be independent!
How is your work meaningful or rewarding?
My work is very rewarding as I get to see each person I work with grow each day. It means so much to me to see the success and improvement in each of them as they attend Northway Academy.
Can you share an example of how Sevita has helped you grow personally and professionally?
Sevita has helped me grow professionally by pushing me to be my best, try new things, and be okay with the uncomfortable conversations.
Personally, Sevita has shown me that I am capable of doing hard things, and I will overcome each obstacle that may be in the way.
How is your internship role helping set you up for success long-term?
My internship will help me understand more about the clinical side of the work we do at Northway Academy and help me grow into a better employee for a future role.
