What inspires me about my work with Sevita is first off, seeing our individuals grow and evolve in their day-to-day life. When they work to better themselves and build the skills they need to live independently or have a job, it’s incredibly fulfilling.
As a Supervisor, I’m also able to help our staff grow themselves and work better together. I value being an advocate for my team, getting them involved in things that will help them in the future, or connecting them with opportunities to develop new skills. Sevita does a wonderful job of helping their employees advance — there are formal programs, online courses, and on-the-job training that help you get to where you want to go. I’m an example of that — I started out as a Caregiver and have been promoted to Program Manager over the course of my career at Sevita.
There’s such a need for empathetic caregivers in Adult Foster Care. Every day I come into work, I know what I’m doing is vital. Every day, I leave work with the sense that I’ve done some good. It’s a deeply meaningful and purposeful way to spend your time and build a career.
